Turkish Companies in the Restructuring Process of Libya
Recycling and waste management, on the other hand, is highly prioritized by local governments in Libya as another important subheading. For a long time, there has been a search for solutions regarding the accumulated garbage piles due to the disruption of local services and their management. So much so that since July 2019, El-Beyda and Benghazi Municipalities in the east of Libya had negotiations with a German energy company on the creation of alternative energy sources, and then garbage / waste power plants were established in El-Beyda and then in Benghazi as of September 2020. On November 22, 2020, the Turkish Partner Teknik Company, which is an expert in industrial facility and waste management, presented the project developed for the recycling of waste to the Mısrata Municipal Council. Significant progress was made in the negotiations in which Libya Iron and Steel Company was also present. Can Öktem, a company official, stated that the negotiations were fruitful and significant progress was made between the parties. The project, which aims to eliminate the daily waste accumulated in the city with environmentally friendly methods, is a matter of time before implementation.
